Our Blog
So here we go on the first blog of finding madison. Well, since I (Doc) am writing it I guess you could say it is almost the first blog. I am not really in the band. I am their roady. And, I do have a little bit to do with the ministry they have, or should I say we share.
We had our first event just under three months ago. What an amazing time we have shared. In only the last month we have seen between 40 and 50 openly profess Christ as Savior. We have had the honor of ministering in 3 states (NC, SC, FL), at See You at the Pole Rallies, a True Love Waits Rally, a coffeehouse, and so on. Just Wednesday night we ministered at a high school football stadium at Orange High School. There was a great crowd, and I am told 27 (yes, I said 27) total made professions of faith.
I (Doc) do not throw out numbers a lot. I understand God does much in lives that may not be immediately apparent. But I can say without reservation God has put His good hand on this band. I have not been this excited about ministry in a long time. If you get a chance, take a moment and pray for us. Put us on your prayer list if you have one. Buy a tee shirt and turn it into a prayer cloth…well maybe don’t go that far
. But we do covet your prayers.
The guys in the band are busy with midterms and papers and so on. All are fulltime students after all. One of the things I love about these fellows is their desire to be not only excellent musicians (which they do) but also to have sharp minds. Driving in the ministry van (my suburban) we have great talks about music, and culture, and the arts, and the Word, and how all these come together. I see a neo-gnosticism in the church today, where too many believers see explicitly spiritual/Christian things as good and everything else as bad. No, truth is truth whether spoken by Paul in Ephesians or by Aristotle in his Nichomachean Ethics. Of course I am not saying the two writings are the same. The Bible is the inerrant, inspired, authoritative Word of God. But sometimes Aristotle was right also. And we can learn from others by studying from a biblical template.
Sorry for the digression. In the coming days the guys in the band will log in and blog on for your reading pleasure. Enjoy! Note our upcoming dates and come see us!
