FINDING MADISON

The virtual hangout for friends of the Finding Madison Band

About the Band

Take a few people who love music and love Jesus, throw in a lot of love for young people, shake it up a little bit, throw in a little ministry with Dr. Alvin Reid for good measure, and you have a ministry to students ready to meet with God and interact with the culture. Finding Madison consists of a group of folks, most with ties to Southeastern, all tied together by our faith, our interest in music and the arts, and a love for students and for Cosmic Brownies (ask us about that one). The band started at a youth camp with the Madison Street Baptist Church in Starke, Florida (hence the Madison part of the name). We do a truckload of ministry with Dr. Alvin Reid, who teaches at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southeastern College at Wake Forest, which by the way is another place we met. We try not to take ourselves too seriously and enjoy having a good time, but we also take very seriously God and His Word and His great Gospel. We are just getting started and already have a full calendar which we see as another example of God’s blessing. If we are coming to where you are, know we cannot wait to meet you and are praying you will be changed. If you want us to minister in your area, see the contact page and let us know!We believe there are more students today hungry for God and for truth, for real faith, than there are people ready to challenge them. We believe young people want depth over fluff and real life more than rote religion. We believe a generation of students — this generation of students –can change the world. We believe God’s Word has the answer to every big question people face. We believe God is in the business of changing lives by His Gospel, and by His grace uses folks like us in that process. And, we believe music has been given to us by God as a means for all the above.floridacamp-049.jpgTo contact Dr. Alvin Reid and/or the band about DNows, rallies, and camps, go to www.alvinreid.com and write to Doc Reid at the Contact page. Here is a little bio on the band members:

Jeff Capps has ministered with Doc Reid numerous times over the past several years. He just married his sweetheart Blair. Jeff is from Wake Forest and graduated from Southeastern College, but he and Blair now live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Jeff has his own ministry and is one of the most thoughtful worship leaders you will meet. Check Jeff’s ministry out at jeffcapps.com or myspace.com/jeffcapps.jeff.jpg

Chad Lister graduated high school with Josh and now is a freshman at Wake Tech. Chad leads worship at the contemporary service at Richland Creek Community Church in Wake Forest. Chad was one of the core leaders of One Way Up for years. To see more about Chad go to myspace.com/chadlister.

We also do some ministry with Eddie Berrios, a new SEBTS students who hails from Orlando.

And let’s not leave out Hannah Reid, who does a wonderful job in so many ways, helping with the T Shirts and books, and more recently using her talent in media and arts (and in the days to come her very cool Nikon camera), as you will soon see. Hannah is a great blessing. And although she likes to be very much behind the scenes, Doc and the band could not do what they do without the wonderful support of Michelle, Doc’s wife of 26 years and band mom!

To contact Dr. Alvin Reid go to alvinreid.com. Doc, as he is affectionally called, is not officially a member of the band, but he does aboutfloridacamp-044.jpg75% of his ministry in churches with these guys he loves so much. We make a pretty good team in service to the Most High. Here he is with his two children. Michelle, his amazing wife of over 25 years, is the most faithful prayer partner of Finding Madison.

  7. Wow…its so refreshing to find out new bands that are representing Christ in such a major way! I am Tameka, a student at Liberty University, working on my Master Degree in Christian Leadership (LU!!–I digress..lol). In addition to pursuing my degree (to work in Christian Entertainment), I am the Business and Operations Manager for SHINE YOUR LIGHT RADIO (shineyourlightradio.com or myspace/shineyourlightradio), an internet radio show powered by the IM4RADIO BROADCASTING NETWORK based in Maryland. Co-founded by myself and my future husband, Daniel, we aim to steer SYLR in a diverse direction, repping Christ in an ‘out-of-the-box’ kind of way. To make a long story short, we would like to showcase your music on our show! That’s one reason why I’m writing this seemingly growing comment.

Secondly, as a student at LU, in our personal evangelism class, we’re reading about Dr. Reid, and in my research, I found this website. To Dr. Reid, YOU ARE SO COOL!!! You are down to earth and a breath of fresh air…many generations can and will learn about the power and love of Jesus Christ through you!!!
To Finding Madison, great name! I long to hear some of your music. Perhaps we can work out getting a promo cd copy for the radio show to showcase to our listeners in the MD, DC, VA (and abroad) areas. If interested, please forward an email to my address.

Thanks for the opportunity to write. I’ll now get back to my book report on “Radically Unchurched”…see ya!
